Friday 2nd May

 Friday 2nd May

This week, we have continued to read stories written by the author Catherine Rayner. We have thought about how the different animals move (penguins, lions, giraffes, crocodiles, tigers and bears).  We thought about words that would be good for describing how the animals move and how they look.  We used these words to write sentences to describe the animals e.g. The penguin waddles and has soft feathers.

Phonics

This week in phonics we have begun to revisit the phase 3 sounds with a greater emphasis on writing words containing these sounds.

This week we have revisited j, v, w, and x.

We have practised all of the phase 3 tricky words so that we can work towards quicker sight recognition.

Maths

This week, we have revisited the concept of subitising - instantly seeing how many objects are in a group without having to count them.

We have used our subitising skills alongside a tens frame and explored a variety of ways of making 6.

This image shows one way of making 6.

We have used the tens frame to support us when making 6 in a variety of ways.

Thank you!
Thank you to all those parents who have donated pots and seeds.  We are busy planting and are excited to watch them grow.
