 Friday 13th June


Thank you for your contributions towards porridge making ingredients.  The children enjoyed making and eating their porridge.



This week we have continued our work on 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'.  
The children received a letter from Baby Bear asking them for help as he is bored with eating the same tasting porridge every day.
The children have decided to add a variety of fruit to the porridge and have been busy taste testing and chopping and slicing the fruit ready to add to the porridge and eat...yum!

Phonics

This week in phonics we have revised the digraphs ur, ow and oi.  

We have practised reading and spelling words with these sounds in. 

Maths


This week in maths we have revisited comparison using different resources e.g. rekenreks.
We have found amounts that are fewer, equal to or more than other amounts.

Minibeast concert

Just to let you know that on Wednesday 9th July we will be having a minibeast concert at 2:30pm.
You are welcome to come and listen  to the children sing their songs. 
We would love the children to come to school dressed up on this day in a simple minibeast costume.  This could consist of a coloured t-shirt or a headband.

 Friday 18th October This week, we have been learning the nursery rhyme 'Hickory, dickory dock'.  We have looked at a variety of clocks and noticed that all the numbers go in order.  We have also spent time talking about the timings of our school day e.g. we start our day at 9 o'clock, we eat lunch at 12 o'clock. Phonics This week we have begun Phase 2 and have introduced the letters s, a, t , p.  We have learnt the names of the letters, the sounds they make and the accompanying action. Friday 27th September This week we have been singing the nursery rhyme 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'. We are encouraging the children to join in with actions. We have been working on the children's use of scissors.  Lots of children have found this very challenging.  Please see the correct way to hold scissors below. Right handed scissor hold Left handed scissor hold You might like to give your child opportunities to use scissors at home.  Perhaps they could help you by snipping the tops of green beans when you are cooking.  They could practise snipping the tops of paper tubes to make models.   Friday 6th June  This week at school we have been learning about fairytales.  We have been reading "Goldilocks and the Three Bears". We have been practising retelling the story in groups and role playing the characters.  We worked on using different kinds of expression in our voices to show the different characters.  You might like to practise this skill at home when your child is reading to you. Phonics This week in phonics we have revised the digraphs long oo, short oo, ar and or.
