Minibeasts

This week, we have been learning all about minibeasts.  We went on a minibeast hunt in the woodlands and collected a selection of minibeasts to take back to our class to study.  We have learnt how to accurately draw and label a minibeast.

Phonics

This week, we have revisited the sounds ar, or, ur and ow.  We have practised reading and writing words containing these sounds.

We have also introduced the phase 4 tricky words.

Maths

This week, we have been working on our automatic recall of number bonds to 5 and to 10.

The children have practised saying the following number sentences aloud...

"5 is made of 2 and 3, 2 and 3 make 5 altogether"


Reading logs and library books

Please return any outstanding library books as soon as possible.  This will be the last week we will be collecting reading logs.  Thank you.


Minibeast concert

A reminder that on Wednesday 9th July we will be having a minibeast concert at 2:30pm.
You are welcome to come and listen to the children sing their songs. 
We would love the children to come to school dressed up on this day in a simple minibeast costume.  This could consist of a coloured t-shirt or a headband.

  Friday 6th June  This week at school we have been learning about fairytales.  We have been reading "Goldilocks and the Three Bears". We have been practising retelling the story in groups and role playing the characters.  We worked on using different kinds of expression in our voices to show the different characters.  You might like to practise this skill at home when your child is reading to you. Phonics This week in phonics we have revised the digraphs long oo, short oo, ar and or. We have practised reading and spelling words with these sounds in.  Please check your child's reading log to check which book you need to read on Bug Club. Thankyou.  Friday 13th September Welcome to our first blog post of this new school year! We are enjoying getting to know your children and we are pleased with how they are settling into their classes. Pictured below is our outdoor woodland area situated behind the Year R classrooms. Your child will be spending a day a week in our woodland area. We would just like to recap what your child needs to bring to school. They should bring a named, non spillable water bottle to school each day (filled with water please). On Sunny days you might like to send a named sun hat with your child.  Please apply sun cream at home in the morning and do not send it to school. Please can you put a change of clothes in your child's book bag as they may well get wet in the water tray or have an accident.  A change of clothes may include plain leggings or jogging bottoms, pants, socks and a plain t-shirt.
