 People Who Help Us

Phonics

In phonics this week, we have learnt to read and write words with the digraphs and trigraphs ai, ee, igh and oa. We have consolidated our recognition of the new "tricky" words "we" and "are"- these are words we recognize by sight.

It would really support your child to remember the new digraphs that we are learning if you could play some games related to these sounds on your child's bug club account.
Thank you

Maths

This week, the children have continued to explore the composition of numbers within 10, focusing on the ‘special case’ of when 2 equal parts combine to make a whole. The children first used their skills of comparison and identify when 2 sets are equal or NOT equal. The children have started to recall some doubles facts e.g. double 2 is 4, double 5 is 10.

Whiteley Reading Challenge.
You have now received your child's reading challenge card.
The aim of this challenge is to encourage regular daily reading to improve your child's confidence and fluency.
At the end of each stage we have little rewards to give out - special stickers, bookmarks and certificates and we celebrate your child's achievement in class with a round of applause!
We ask that you record one reading task per day on the challenge card - this may be a phonic game, paper phonic book or book on Bug Club.
Thank you for your support.
