Friday 8th March

 Friday 8th March

This week we have continued with our work about Supertato, the veggie superhero.
We have been very busy writing speech bubbles for the super veggies we made last week.
We have tried hard to remember to write our sentences with a capital letter, finger spaces and a full stop.

Phonics
This week in phonics we have been learning about the digraphs: ch, sh, th and ng.
We have practiced writing words and sentences using these sounds.

We have also learnt the tricky word 'they’.

Maths
This week we have been consolidating our knowledge of the composition of numbers within 7 e.g. seeing that 7 can be made of 5 and 2.  A key focus was learning how to partition 7 and think about the missing part e.g. 7 is made of 4 and ___.

Whiteley Reading Challenge.
You have now received your child's reading challenge card.
The aim of this challenge is to encourage regular daily reading to improve your child's confidence and fluency.
At the end of each stage we have little rewards to give out - special stickers, bookmarks and certificates and we celebrate your child's achievement in class with a round of applause!
We ask that you record one reading task per day on the challenge card - this may be a phonic game, paper phonic book or book on Bug Club.

Next week!
Next week we are starting to learn about "People who help us".  If you have a job e.g. police officer, paramedic, doctor, dentist, nurse, vet etc. and you would like to come in and talk to the children about what you do, please let us know!
Thank you for your support.
