This week we have continued to read the story of the 'Foggy Foggy Forest'. We have been writing a sentence to add to the story using rhyming words. 

For example, In the Foggy Foggy Forest it is a fox in a box or In the Foggy Foggy Forest it is a cat in a hat.

Phonics
This week we have introduced the letters ck, e, u and r. 
We have learnt the names of the letters, the sounds they make and the accompanying action.
You may like to ask your child to show you these actions.

We have identified words that contain these letters e.g. sack ends with 'ck', pen has 'e' in the middle of the word.

Maths

This week the children will build on their understanding of the composition of numbers eg. seeing that 3 can be composed of 1 and 2. They have also consolidated their understanding of a whole being made up of smaller parts. We had great fun making our own 'stampolines' to show different ways of making 4.



Nativity.

We are excited to invite you to come and watch your child's nativity. This is not a ticketed performance. We ask that only two people attend the performance on the day of your child's class nativity.

The performances are as follows - 

Foxes class - Monday 8th December 2pm

Owls class - Tuesday 9th December 2pm

Squirrels class - Thursday 11th  December 2pm

The performance will take place in the hall.

 Friday 12th September Welcome to our first blog post of this new school year! We are enjoying getting to know your children and we are pleased with how they are settling into their classes. Pictured below is our outdoor woodland area situated behind the Year R classrooms. Your child will be spending time each week in our woodland area. We would just like to recap what your child needs to bring to school. They should bring a named, non spillable water bottle to school each day (filled with water please). On Sunny days you might like to send a named sun hat with your child.  Please apply sun cream at home in the morning and do not send it to school. Please can you put a change of clothes in your child's book bag as they may well get wet in the water tray or have an accident.  A change of clothes may include plain leggings or jogging bottoms, pants, socks and a plain t-shirt. Friday 26th September This week we have been singing the nursery rhyme 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'. We are encouraging the children to join in with actions. We have been working on the children's use of scissors.  Lots of children have found this very challenging.  Please see the correct way to hold scissors below. Right handed scissor hold Left handed scissor hold You might like to give your child opportunities to use scissors at home.  Perhaps they could help you by snipping the tops of green beans when you are cooking.  They could practise snipping the tops of paper tubes to make models.    Friday 19th September We have been learning and performing the nursery rhymes "Incy Wincy Spider" and "Little Miss Muffet". Over the next few weeks, we will be learning lots of different nursery rhymes and on Tuesday 21st October, we will be having a nursery rhyme dress up day and sponsored nursery rhyme singing event at school.  Further details will follow nearer the time.
